This hybrid bed is made with individually wrapped coils and has seven ergonomic zones for back support. 

There are three options for firmness to choose from which are firm, standard with a pillow top and plush with a box top. The standard and pillow-top models are made with GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex, which is a firmer type of latex. The plush box-top model uses Certifié FSC Talalay latex, which is softer than Dunlop so it has a plush feel. All styles use Certifié GOTS organic cotton for the top cover so it’s soft and breathable. The cover is made with Tencel fibers so it’s designed to be breathable and soft. The mattress is made up of three layers of foam. Hot sleepers shouldn’t have to worry about overheating since the first layer is made with cooling gel-infused memory foam. The second layer is what Bear calls its Dynamic Foam Layer, which helps relieve pressure while still being supportive. The last layer is the base layer, made with high-density foam for stability and durability. 

Bear states this mattress has a firm feel and reviewers tend to agree, so this is likely best suited for a stomach, back or combination sleeper. Not only is this fiberglass-free, but it’s also GREENGUARD Gold Certified, which means it’s free from many chemicals and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde and phthalates. The foam is CertiPur-US certified, which means it’s made without formaldehyde and flame retardants, and it’s low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

I’ve slept on the plush version of this bed and it was one of the most comfortable mattresses for side sleeping. I noticed I didn’t have to switch sides as much to try to relieve pressure on my shoulders. I also appreciate that the fabric feels cool to the touch, which helps keep you cool. One drawback, there are multiple pieces that arrive in two separate boxes and white glove delivery service isn’t offered so you need to put them together, which can be a hassle.

It’s a great option for those with back pain who need a firmer mattress, in which case you likely want to choose the luxury firm or firm option.

This mattress is a hybrid made up of foam on a spring base with a small pillow top. It feels closer to a traditional bed than a memory foam bed since you don’t sink in. Plus, since you lie on top rather than sink in, it allows air to circulate around your body so you don’t overheat. Those who like a firm mattress and need back support should enjoy the Saatva Classic. Side sleepers or those who like a very soft bed may not find this as comfortable. It’s available in 11.5 and 14.5 inch heights, so you can choose the one that suits your height preference.

Nolah states this is a luxury firm (or what we’d consider as medium-firm) mattress. I found it accurate compared to other beds I’ve slept on—it feels medium-firm.
